About Us

This website is the semester work of the M. Arch students of Arch 5301: Animal Architecture, which focused on issues of wilding and rewilding in the GYE.

Arch 5301: Animal Architecture was conducted at the Huckabee College of Architecture at Texas Tech University taught by visiting faculty member Dr. Lori Ryker. In this class, students engaged with mapping and research initiatives to gain a better understanding of zoning, rural and urban development, and land management, and their subsequent effect on wildlife populations.

In fulfillment of course requirements, students decided to create this website to document and share our understanding of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem (GYE), its wildlife and human-generated pressure currently challenging the long-term health and perpetuation of the wildlife who call the GYE home.

If you want to watch a video of presentation discussing the website development and our exploration of the GYE click HERE.

Our work for the website is secondary research based on primary data-driven research. We have provided links and references for the website that can be found HERE.

We hope you also gain valuable insight into the health of the GYE through this website as we did when undertaking the research to learn about the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem’s history, wildlife, evolution, and recent human impact.
